Cleaning

Lots of cleaning today. Used some eco products which are working great. Skoy cleaning cloths are awesome, biodegradable yet strong; equivalent to 15 rolls of paper towels a bit like a cross between a sponge cloth and a microfiber cloth. Made from cotton fiber and wood pulp they compost in five weeks.

Edgefield Pottery.

Yesterday we called in at the Edgefield Pottery and met a fantastic bloke called Stephen Ferrell. He told us all about the Stoneware trade in the 1800's. This is a working pottery and museum which has some work created by the influential Dave the Slave , a slave who was taught to read and write when it was still illegal to do so.

Dave use to decorate his work with poems and couplets relating to the usage of the particular piece he was making. His work is much sought after and can be seen in the Smithsonian.

$180 Scaffold.

This is the scaffold I knocked up in Don's workshop, used it today for the first time to start washing the walls .Its does the job and it's a lot cheaper than the $1000 to buy one. It's 10 ft x10ftx3ft and has an adjustable walkway. The top setting is for working on the ceilings whilst lying on your back and it has casters to move it around the room.

Cleaning out the fire grate.

When was the last time this had a fire in it?

Wednesday is closing day in Edgefield.

Not the shops, I mean we close on the house on Wednesday at two o'clock. The gas is getting connected Thursday so fingers crossed the water heater will work and we can get some hot water to start cleaning with.

Planning on getting our house hold goods delivered on Monday so I guess that mean us moving in on Monday?

The picture today is our flooring, Yellow pine I think.

If at first you don't succeed nail nail again.

Ok so I'm learning that using a Nail gun can speed things up but at what cost? This photo is from one of the houses being built here, and the expression cow's arse and shovel comes to mind.
